3 Must Events For Presidents Day Weekend

BY Germaine Benson | February 13, 2017 | Feature Features

A long Presidents Day weekend calls for leisure and culture. Here are three engagements you shouldn't miss.
The Miami International Boat Show is back with one of its largest showings to date.

Art of Fact
No need to wait until December’s Art Basel for a dose of culture. Art Wynwood is back for its sixth edition this Presidents Day weekend. The art fair will feature iconic works from 20th and 21st century artists with projects and special installations from 60 international exhibitors. This year, Shepard Fairey is receiving the Art Wynwood Tony Goldman Lifetime Achievement Award, so don’t miss his talk with artnet’s Sarah Cascone on Feb. 17 at 2PM. Also: Wynwood Radio will be broadcasting live from the fair, bringing interviews with artists, exhibitors and fair directors, and streaming the panel discussions for listeners to enjoy. Feb. 16-20, $25-$55, 3001 NE First Ave., Miami, 800.376.5850

From New York, With Love

Few musicals have delighted audiences in the past few years as much as Beautiful, which chronicles the life and career of pop rock legend Carole King, a simple girl from Brooklyn with plenty of talent and even more chutzpah. The show features most (if not all) of the singer’s best-known hits, including “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” and “You’ve Got a Friend.” Through Feb. 19, times vary, $35-$175, Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, 305.949.6722

To The High Seas
Attention sea lovers: The Miami International Boat Show is back with more yachts, superyachts and other marine-related vessels than ever before. This 76th edition of the event is once again taking over Miami Marine Stadium Park & Basin with 1,300 new boats and elevated VIP food and beverage programs. The show is also offering potential buyers the chance to actually test drive the boats in Miami’s open waters before they make a large purchase. Feb. 16-20, times vary, VIP admission from $85, premier day admission $40, general admission $25, 3501 Rickenbacker Causeway, Miami, 954.441.3220
