September is National Bourbon Heritage Month and although the month is almost over, these five stiff cocktails are still being poured. To your health!
StripSteak's Happy Trails is the ideal daytime bourbon cocktail.

1. American Pride
Since bourbon is this country’s indigenous version of Scottish whiskey, it makes total sense that American Social would do right by it. The restaurant’s Bourbon Thyme ($14), which is available year-round, is made with Bulleit Bourbon, thyme- infused simple syrup and fresh citrus juice. 690 SW First Court, Miami, 305.223.7004

2. Variety Special
With more than 40 different variations to choose from, Bourbon Steak has one of the largest selections the spirit in Miami. A surefire winner? The FDC ($15), made with Four Roses Bourbon infused with toasted pecans, rosemary and maple syrup. Turnberry Isle Hotel, 19999 W. Country Club Drive, Aventura, 786.279.6600

3. Cocktail Chemistry
As the newest cocktail bar to land in Coral Gables, Copper 29 is doing right by mixology with stellar ingredients, on-point preparations and lovely presentations. Case in point: The Don’t Herb Me ($14), which is hand-stirred and served in an old-fashioned crystal glass over a cherry oak smoked ice cube. As for what’s in it? Old Forester Bourbon Whiskey, a dry eucalyptus shrub, star anise extract and black walnut bitters. 206 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables, 786.580.4689

4. Making Spirits Bright
StripSteak is celebrating National Bourbon Heritage Month in a big way! From three different whiskey flights ($22 each) to two specialty cocktails ($15-$18), the steakhouse is definitely showing its appreciation for the barrel-aged spirit. Want to join the party? Try the Happy Trails ($15), a mix of High West American Prairie Bourbon, Grand Marnier, agave syrup, and grapefruit, watermelon and yuzu juices. Fontainebleau, 4441 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, 877.326.7412

5. Proven Winner
When a local hot spot is crowned one of the top 80 bourbon bars in the country by Bourbon Review, bragging rights are instantly acceptable. Yardbird Southern Table and Bar certainly deserves the honor. For proof, try the Blackberry Bourbon Lemonade ($12), made with Four Roses Bourbon, lemon, organic blackberry purée, simple syrup, aromatic bitters, a cardamom pod and a splash of sparkling wine, and served in a mason jar. 1600 Lenox Ave., Miami Beach, 305.538.5220
