Learn some serious kitchen skills from the best in the biz with these chef-led cooking classes around the city.
Chef Richard Hales leads the new fishing and cooking experience at The Confidante Miami Beach.

Catch & Cook
Groups can do more than just cook with a chef. At The Confidante Miami Beach, they can also source their own ingredients. A new fishing and cooking experience invites groups aboard a 58-foot sport fisherman boat for a four-hour fishing expedition with Bird & Bone chef Richard Hales. Back at the dock, he will give a demo on how to fillet the catch and, at the hotel, the fish will be broiled, grilled, fried or baked for dinner. $1,700 for up to five people, 4041 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, 786.605.4074

Macaron Moxie
If you or someone you love is a macaron lover, you’ll want to know about The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort’s pastry class called The Artistry of The St. Regis Macarons. Hit the pastry kitchen for a 90-minute step-by-step guide on how to make one of the perfect little pastel confections and enjoy a glass of rosé with your creations, followed by a Bird Cage High Tea at the resort’s La Gourmandise. $130 per person, 9703 Collins Ave., Bal Harbour, 305.993.0700

Italian Lessons
If you’ve sampled the Italian bounty of La Centrale and feel inspired to step into the kitchen, the food hall’s La Cucina Cooking Studio has more than 40 cooking classes on tap, including workshops on pasta, Neapolitan pizza and a free Saturday cooking class for kids. Summer sees the addition of five new classes, including one on coffee and chocolate pairings, with Panther Coffee; another on coffee and cheese pairings, a risotto class, pastry class and a wine tasting. Prices vary, 601 S. Miami Ave., Miami, 305.720.2401

Fire it Up
Brush up on your summer barbecue skills with some expert guidance at the latest Grilling Masterclass at Faena Hotel’s Los Fuegos. This Saturday, chef de cuisine Cristian Menendez—apprentice of grill master Francis Mallmann—will teach guests Mallmann’s signature live-fire cooking techniques for dishes such as smoked shrimp a la plancha, salt-crusted whole red snapper and Mallmann’s famous beef tenderloin milanesa. Wine pairings, a recipe card and an autographed copy of Mallmann’s cookbook are included. June 16, 11:30 AM–3:00 PM, $195 per person, 3201 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, 786.655.5600

On a Roll
It may seem intimidating, but after a class with Blade restaurant’s master sushi chef Deden Bandi, you’ll be rolling sushi like a boss. Chef Deden will guide participants in the Fontainebleau’s weekly Sushi 101 class on how to select the freshest fish and vegetables and combine them into exotic flavor combinations. Class ends with a sampling of your creations. Saturdays, 3–4 PM, $35 per person, 4441 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, 305.695.2495
