5 Must-Try Summer Cocktails

BY Germaine Benson | July 24, 2017 | Feature Features National

There's nothing like a refreshing cocktail to get us through the dog days of summer. Here are five that deserve your attention.
The Zuma Mai Tai is one of the restaurant's cocktail standouts.

Cold Comfort
Leave those syrup-filled daiquiris to the tourists on Ocean Drive and head to DÔA for a refined frozen treat. The Summer Time Love ($16) cocktail served at the LatAsian hot spot is made with Ron Barceló rum, coconut cream, raw granulated sugar, pineapple chunks, coconut flakes and strawberries, and blended to refreshing perfection. 2000 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, 305.587.2000

Tropical Escape
At Zuma, a sip of the Zuma Mai Tai ($14) will make you feel as if you’ve just landed on a tropical paradise. The bartenders at the Asian eatery mix this Polynesian-inspired cocktail with the restaurant’s own house-made rum grog, plum wine, fresh pineapple juice, blood orange and a squeeze of lime, and top it with a spritz of almond essence. Epic Hotel, 270 Biscayne Blvd. Way, Miami, 305.577.0277

That’s Amore!
If an Italian getaway is not part of your summer plans, the Venice Through Miami ($19) at Le Sirenuse Champagne Bar is the next best thing. The cocktail features a mix of Aperol, coconut water, peach liqueur, lavender flower and prosecco—a delicious blend that has summer written all over it. The Four Seasons at The Surf Club, 9101 Collins Ave., Surfside, 786.482.2280

Fiesta Time
While at Brickell City Centre, take a shopping break to indulge in any of the specialty cocktails at Tacology. Our suggestion? The Casa Berries ($12), a (sort of) margarita with Casa Noble tequila, strawberries, blueberries, hibiscus juice, lime juice and agave nectar. 701 S. Miami Ave., Miami, 786.347.5368

Pop of Flavor
The Wet Deck at the W South Beach offers plenty of thirst-quenching favorites, but our vote goes to the Lychee Martini Madness ($14). The bar’s take on this classic features a combination of St. Germain elderflower liqueur, fresh lime juice and sweet syrup, and is finished off with a lychee and a rosé-infused popsicle. 2201 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, 305.938.3000
