IIDA South Florida Chapter hosted their 19th Annual Design Mix “Peculiarium” Event
|May 14, 2019|Parties,
South Florida’s design community traveled back to the infamous 18th century circus era during this year’s Design Mix presented by The International Interior Designer Association (IIDA) South Florida Chapter. “Peculiarium” welcomed the normal, the non-normal, the odd and the peculiar on Saturday, March 30th, at The Miami Scottish Rite. This year’s runway show featured 25 models rocking the latest trends in textiles, wall coverings, flooring, tiles, etc. All garments were scored by non-industry guest judges (including Shireen Sandoval, Lucía Riaño and Mario Braghieri) who presented awards in various categories. The emcee for the evening was one of South Florida’s most coveted drag queens Athena Dion and the event chairs were IIDA members Janelle Arauz and Jason Valentin. Over 600 attendees this year’s circus-themed “Peculiarium” event, helping to raise $15,000 towards Chapter initiatives including advocacy efforts, professional and student development, along with scholarships for students enrolled in interior design programs.
