Known for its decadent South of Fifth location, Abbalé Telavivian Kitchen has debuted a second location, opening its doors in Aventura. Co-founded by Sam Gorenstein and Omer Horev of Miami’s fan-favorite Pura Vida in 2021, Abbalé Telavivian Kitchen was born to bring Israeli-Mediterranean cuisine to Miami and has gained a loyal following. Incorporating the beloved design, the recently opened 4,000-square-foot restaurant features menu highlights from the original spot, new additions, live music on select nights, cooking demonstrations and cocktail tastings. We chat with Horev and Gorenstein to learn more about what to expect from the new dining destination. 2956 NE 199th St, Aventura, abbaletlv.com

How does the Aventura location differ from the original South of Fifth location?
OH: Abbalé Aventura is over double the size of our South Beach location, seating over 140 people, and it includes a full-service bar serving Mediterranean and Israeli wines, beer and specialty cocktails. There is a chef’s counter overlooking the restaurant’s open kitchen and a private dining room. Live music entertainment is available on select evenings in the buzzy lounge, and Abbalé Aventura also plans to host Shabbat dinners.

Why did you choose Aventura as the next location?
SG: I live in the area and have received many requests to bring the concept we started in South of Fifth to the neighborhood. Our Israeli-inspired and kosher-style concept resonates deeply with the area’s Israeli-rooted demographic, so Aventura seemed like a natural fit for our brand.
What feedback have you received since opening the newest location?
OH: We are constantly amazed and humbled at how well-received our brand has been since we opened in 2021. Our Aventura opening has proven the same. We are happy to be able to serve Aventura and look forward to enhancing the area’s culinary offerings.
How does the menu differ from South of Fifth?
SG: We debuted 15 new menu items for Abbalé in Aventura. My personal favorites are the chicken schnitzel sandwich, saltcrusted local whole red snapper, the bone-in prime ribeye and our har bracha tahini soft serve.

What was most important when deciding to expand Abbalé?
OH: The feedback from our guests played a significant role in guiding our expansion strategy as we strive to be more accessible and responsive to the needs of our customers. A crucial factor in expanding was strengthening the connection with our core community, particularly in Aventura.
What do you want guests to experience when dining at Abbalé?
SG: We’d like guests to experience our diverse, kosher-style menu that invites them on an unparalleled journey, capturing the essence of the Mediterranean in every delectable dish. We hope to provide a place for friends, family and neighbors to gather for quality food with a timeless Mediterranean vibe and ambiance.
