Recently, she transformed a Boca Raton condominium into a dreamy coastal oasis, inspired by its natural surroundings and elements. The 2,669-square-foot home features three bedrooms and three bathrooms, with an end result that is sleek and neutral yet sophisticated with touches of personality. Known for utilizing raw materials to create magic, this property is a gorgeous representation of why Pernia is beloved for her mastery of design.
On the inspiration behind the project
“Since the building is close to the water, nature is an influence. The team and I were inspired by the possibility of incorporating natural elements, like wood, into the space. We wanted to transmit an atmosphere of a beautiful seaside retreat through color and furniture picks.”

On the creative process
“When we were visualizing with our client what would be the overall style we wanted to achieve, we listened very closely to our client’s needs, family dynamics and what they genuinely valued in functionality and design. After our initial meetings, we understood that our client was looking for a modern coastal environment to make her home feel like a high-end island getaway. With that in mind, we went for the contemporary coastal style. This style introduces warm neutral tones, rich textures, natural materials and color highlights into modern spaces for a warming yet sophisticated aesthetic. We went for a neutral gray and beige palette for the furniture fabrics and added beachy colors through the art, decor, some finishes selection and wallcoverings.
The space features unique millwork from Allwood Lab, Twill and Texture wallcoverings and more to add eyecatching accent touches throughout the home. HOME PHOTO BY GABRIEL VOLPI
A big plus to achieving a smooth design process is when the client gives us a white canvas and lets us design freely, and this client did just that. When completed, the clients were delighted with the results; we had achieved an elegant yet coastal setting.”
