Bespectacled Spectacle

| September 2, 2014 | Parties

The Event
Rain and thunder didn’t deter a slew of stylish denizens from descending on Maison Martin Margiela in the Design District for the big reveal of the brand’s latest collaboration with Mykita. On display? Two eyewear collections that reinterpret historical forms and offer an unconventional approach to materials—oh, my!

The Crowd
Can you say chic? Known for its Sartorialist-worthy guest lists, the Margiela + Mykita unveiling drew its fair share of peacocks and stiletto-savvy vixens. Among those posing for photographers and perusing the goods were The Webster COO Cedric Aumonier, gallerina Ashley Turchin, Apt606 owner Dune Ivan, artist Typoe, writer Jhon Jairo Santos and fashion photographer Camilo Rios.

The Highlights
In between many air kisses and cocktails, guests were genuinely smitten with the MMM + M collections, Essential and Dual, and most were not shy about trying on the many frames on display. Others were equally enchanted with the boutique’s fashion-forward, modernist lines of garments. After many drinks and flashes, the bold and stylish left with visions of sunnies in their heads. –Photography by World Red Eye
