Bloom Bash

| April 8, 2013 | Parties National

THE PARTY Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is usually a quiet oasis of bloom tranquility, but the park’s 20th Anniversary Gala was anything but. THE CROWD “This is philanthropy with a capital P,” said one guest referring to the who’s-who list of attendees. Indeed, co-chairs Swanee DiMare, Frances Sevilla-Sacasa, Penny Stamps and Joyce Burns welcomed some 400 guests to the party, including Dan and Trish Bell, Adolfo Henriques, Jorge and Darlene PĂ©rez, and Lou and Mary Jean Risi—names all too familiar in Miami’s social register circles. THE SCENE True to its Botanical Tapestry theme, the gala lived up to aesthetic expectations with floral displays galore. At the Lakeside Marquee, where the main celebration took place, orchids entwined in columns hung from the ceiling and under fringed parasols. After much Champagne and many cocktails, a silent auction and dinner by Le Basque, guests took to the dance floor as the sounds of the Soul Survivors Orchestra filled the air. On their way out the door, attendees delighted at the take-home party favors: blooming orchids, natch. Photography by Allison Diaz & Cabrera Photography
