| October 25, 2011 | Parties National

Miami is not typically known as a literary mecca, but the chance to dish about the first lady was too enticing to pass up. The guest list at the party for the release of Everyday Icon: Michelle Obama and the Power of Style by Kate Betts read like a who’s-who of city socialistas. Hosted by Lara Shriftman, Iran Issa-Khan, Sarah Harrelson and Criselda Breene, the celebration at Mister Collins in the ONE Bal Harbour Resort & Spa afforded guests the chance to chat up the author, who was full of behind-the-scenes anecdotes regarding Obama’s fashion habits. Among those listening: interior designer Sam Robin, hotelier Jonathan Breene and former model Ines Rivero. In between book signings, guests enjoyed Grey Goose cocktails and hors d’oeuvres from the Mister Collins kitchen. Of course, guests just had to know the real scoop, so the query on just about everyone’s lips was “So, what’s Michelle Obama really like?” Photography by World Red Eye
