A&M Comics
One of the oldest comic bookstores in the country (and by far the oldest in Florida), A&M is as much about superheroes as it is about vintage toys, vinyl records and collectibles that defy description. 6650 Bird Road, Miami, 305.661.3406, @am_comics
Barnes & Noble South Miami
Once upon a time, just about every corner in Miami had a B&N store, whose cafes where common meeting places for coffee dates before Tinder et al. Of the few that remain, the South Miami location is by far the largest with two floors of space. The magazine selection on the second floor is impressive as is the children’s section. And don’t leave the store without perusing the sale counter near the register on the first level, a spot for seriously discounted gifts, notebooks and other literary knickknacks. The Shops at Sunset Place, 5701 Sunset Drive, South Miami, 305.662.4770, stores.barnesandnoble.com

The Coral Gables original not only houses tomes on just about every subject, but its programming of author chats is unmatched. Coming Sept. 22 at 8PM: Liane Moriarty, the New York Times bestselling author of Apples Never Fall. 265 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables, 305.442.4408, booksandbooks.com

At the company’s Miami Beach store, visitors can peruse massive editions that require their own stand and special gloves to turn the pages. 1117 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, 305.538.6185, taschen.com
