Just as high season begins, The Brazilian Court in Palm Beach is unveiling a decadent refresh of its interiors. Built in 1926 by architect Rosario Candela, the exterior of the hotel features a Mediterranean-style stucco facade, arched walkways, terra-cotta barrel roof tiles and wrought-iron elements that have been impeccably maintained since its opening nearly a century ago. But inside, some aesthetic love was overdue. For its latest interior renovation, owner Bobby Schlesinger tapped renowned designer Lauren Hastings of LSI Designs. “The redesign of The Brazilian Court’s guest suites has been extraordinarily well received by both new and repeat guests of the hotel,” says Schlesinger. “The modern yet timeless elegance of the furniture package, paired with the rich depth of the wood floors and the pop of the classic black-and-white artwork, creates exactly the atmosphere we set out to achieve.”

Each room now features a curated collection of black-and-white photography that pays homage to some of the most inspiring icons of pop culture. “We went bold with iconic black-and-white artwork,” says Hastings. “We included photos by Terry O’Neil like his classic shots of Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. All of the furniture in the rooms is custom, and we turned to sources like Arteriors, Assouline, Made Goods and local shops like Keller Palm Beach and Mecox Gardens to add individual touches to each space.”
Lush green velvet headboards and sofas add a striking nod to the palms outdoors, especially the gardens surrounding Café Boulud, while white linens and pops of lavender brighten the units.

“The goal was to go in the opposite direction of anything typical Palm Beach,” says Hastings. “We pushed the envelope with statement black-and-white art, plush green velvet fabric and white linen light fixtures, and designed a feature wall of lavender wisteria printed on silk fabric.” The mix of contemporary-style furnishings and art delivers a design story that is both timeless and fresh. 301 Australian Ave., Palm Beach, 561.655.7740, thebraziliancourt.com
