Attention mezcal fans: Dos Hombres is about to drop a highly exclusive bottle.
On Sept. 7, Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul’s spirit brand will release a limited edition run of their tobala mezcal. It’ll be a high stakes race to the checkout page: just two will be available.
For starters, the Dos Hombres Tobala is currently sold out and only available in the secondary market. Enlivened by bold notes, the 25-year-old mezcal’s distinguished taste comes from the sacred Copal trees in a region which infuse and perfume the soil where the tobala agaves grow. It features scents and flavors of plums, lilies, roasted chocolate, wood and smooth smoke.
What’s more, Cranston and Paul have signed the bottles, making this edition of Dos Hombres Tobala top-shelf memorabilia in both the context of the spirits industry and pop culture.
The bottles will only be available through the Spirits Network’s marketplace, Dropzone, which has been known to platform other high-end limited releases and celebrity collaborations, including Cardi B’s sold-out Whipshots.
Each signed Dos Hombres Tobala bottle will retail for $575. Only members of the Spirits Network are able to make the purchase, so be sure to secure a membership if you plan to join this race.
Founded in 2019 by the Breaking Bad co-stars, Dos Hombres is developed by multi-generation mezcal producers in San Luis del Rio, a small village in Oaxaca, Mexico.
Their journey first began while the duo dined over sushi in New York City. Paul suggested they go into the booze business together and Cranston nearly spat out his drink. Nevertheless, forging ahead, they both agreed to only move forward if they both were passionately involved in the entire operation.
“We honestly want to be the No. 1 mezcal in the world,” Cranston said during a virtual tasting event earlier this spring. “That's our goal. It's a dangling carrot and we want to achieve that. It’s something that we feel we can do because we believe in this so much and it’s an awful lot of fun.”
After its second year on the market, Dos Hombres became the No. 1 selling mezcal in BevMo! and was No. 6 in North America for mezcal sales as of April.
Spirits Network also launched in 2019 to offer rare access to the culture, commerce, and community of fine spirits and the stories behind them.
