Building a Mystery

| March 13, 2013 | Parties

THE PARTY More than 13 Miami collectors opened their homes for the Museum of Contemporary Art’s secret-fab fundraiser, MOCA Mystery Dates, a series of dinners at various residences throughout the city. The trick? Guests didn’t know where they were going until the night of the celebration. THE CROWD After the different locations were revealed at a pre-party at the actual museum, attendees then headed off to their assigned destinations. Among those were MOCA Director Bonnie Clearwater, Christian Slater, Brittany Lopez, Sarah Arison, Carolyn Travis, Erin Newberg and Alex Kushner. THE SCENE The vibe of the evening all depended on where guests ended up. Some dinners were low-key, others not so much. At her home, Kathryn Mikesell prepared the 15 dishes she served herself. Dale and Richard Newberg surprised their guests with a live performance by gospel singer Maryel Epps. And over at Mike Margulies’ dinner, which was held at the massive Margulies Collection at The Warehouse, attendees were treated to a tour of the facilities by collector Marty Margulies himself.
