Celebration Ovation

One of Miami’s most beloved cultural organizations celebrated its 35th anniversary with its most animated gala to date, the 2016 YoungArts Backyard Ball.

Presented by Max Mara and hosted by co-chairs Tracey and Bruce Berkowitz, and Margarita and Armando Codina, as well as Sarah Arison, the evening honored actress Rosie Perez and director Robert Wilson with its esteemed Arison Award, as well as dancer-actor-singer Tony Yazbeck with the Arison Alumni Award. In addition to said luminaries, the guest list included Tony winner Billy Porter, who served as emcee, and Maria Giulia Maramotti, Max Mara’s U.S. director of retail.

Like an engrossing stage show, the affair hit all the right notes. After the various introduction and thank-you speeches came a slew of performance vignettes, featuring YoungArts alumni, as attendees enjoyed dinner. By the end of the evening, more than $1.6 million had been raised to support YA’s efforts in grooming the development of young artists around the nation. -Photography by Getty Images
