THE PARTY After an artistic tease during Basel, Hermès opened the doors to its temporary boutique space in the Design District with a private cocktail party for brand loyalists, media VIPs and a sprinkling of Miami’s fashion set. THE CROWD Hermès USA President and CEO Robert B. Chavez welcomed the likes of Design District developer Craig Robins, Aventura Mall owner Jackie Soffer, music producer Pharrell Williams, former MAM Director Terry Riley and Miami Heat owner Micky Arison. THE SCENE Few Miami boutiques dare to pull off a store opening on a Friday night, much less during the weekend of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, but after a slow start, the Hermès debut went off without a hitch. As the party’s second hour got underway, the foot traffic became heavy with guests all too eager to check out the new store. Following the store preview, a select group moved to the Rooftop Garden above the boutique for an alfresco dinner under the stars. As a Spanish guitar performer circled the tables and Shiraz’s easy-on-the-eyes waiters revealed each of the courses with synchronized precision, another District favorite was born.
