"In everything we do, our goal –beyond delivering unparalleled food and service– is to stimulate all the senses," said Andres Monroy, chief financial officer at Moonmat Hospitality. "Art, food, drink, music, design all must work in harmony to create an all-encompassing transportive experience. The opening in Coral Gables isn't the opening of a third in the family of Crudo's concepts. It's an evolution of what we started in Wynwood."
The menu will include trademark items from the flagship Wynwood restaurant and various new creations exclusive to Coral Gables, all inspired by the fusion of Asian, American, and Latin cuisines. To that aim, appetizers such as Duck Gyoza, Truffle Langostinos Casserole, Yuzu Lamb Chops, and tuna, yellowtail, scallop, and salmon sashimi will be available. There are also a variety of conventional and non-traditional Bao Buns, such as the Cloud Pork Belly Buns, which are made with pork belly, cotton candy, pickled cucumber, and crispy rice.
The Black Garlic Scallop Roll, House on Fire Roll, Buro Roll, Vegan Roll, Art House Roll, Sakura (Hamachi), Chizu, and Tsuki are among the specialty rolls available. Grilled Salmon, Grilled Octopus, Churrasco, Seabass, New York Strip Steak, Ginger Pork Belly, and the catch of the day are among the large-format delicacies. The restaurant will also have a fantastic selection of handcrafted cocktails, like the Jackie Tory, Kind of Tropical Rum Fashion, Not That Whiskey Sour, and Kadinsky's White Russian, which professional staff mixologists will lead.
Upstairs at Crudos is a continuation of the Crudos experience and a universe unto itself, with a two-story, 5,000-square-foot area (which previously held the defunct AdLib restaurant). Diners may get to Aka by ascending a short flight of stairs beyond the DJ booth. Gastronomes and drinkers will find a specialized room for Japanese whiskey and highball cocktails and a menu concentrating on temaki handrolls. After 11 p.m. in both locations, the fine-dining experience transforms into a buzzy dinner party with live DJs and bottle service, with customers 21 and over able to enter.
"We think of Crudos Art House as a celebration of Latin and Asian cultures with an atmosphere that feels like a celebration every day of the week," said Daniel Materan, chief executive officer at Moonmat Hospitality. "We designed Crudos Art House to be an energetic space that will be Coral Gables' new go-to spot for a night out, whether it's a party, after-work happy hour, or dinner with friends."
With gloomy direct and indirect lighting, lofty ceilings, luxurious befeathered chandeliers, and soft velvet chairs, the restaurant's décor are trendy, sophisticated, and vibey, designed by Bea Interiors. A spectacular wide art piece greets visitors with a wall-sized depiction of pop culture icons, Hollywood greats, and musical artists inspired by Paolo Beronese's The Wedding Feast at Cana. The restaurant is decorated with Baccarat Be@rbrick Bears distinctive designer art, Maurizio Cattelan's viral duct-taped banana Comedian from Art Basel Miami Beach 2019, a life-sized Geisha astronaut, and more, all in keeping with the brand. The upper and lower rooms of Crudos Art House will seat 84 people.
