Imagining a dream retreat in the heart of Miami led developer and CEO of MV Group (mvgroupusa.com) Manny Varas and Kobi Karp, a world-renowned architect, to profound conversations about art, tropical greenery and freedom within a space. “Whether you arrive at the house walking through a beautiful garden or proceeding through the indoor spaces, visitors always engage with the outdoors,” says Karp. “It is very much a continuous experience.”

Nestled in a 30,000-square-foot oceanfront lot bound by the waters of Biscayne Bay, the home dubbed La Casa Palma boasts six bedrooms and nine baths alongside a lineup of private amenities from a movie theater, gym and spa to a gorgeous wine cellar and glass elevator. Unifying the powers of a multitalented design team to form an elaborate 11,485-square-foot project, the contemporary manor embodies the luxury of undisturbed continuity with an open floor plan to provide residents with endless water views of the Atlantic coast.

With the house’s ambiance being both familiar and affluently modern, the team called on Borges & Associates to ornament the interior with its world-class touch. While most designers typically reserve their most dramatic gestures for a residence’s main social arena, Borges & Associates took a more free-thinking approach to the scene by scattering its choicest finds seamlessly throughout the property.

By creating an inviting transformation between the indoors and outdoors, the visionaries ensure that residents are always absorbed in the alfresco environment while confining the home in mammoth glass sliding windows. “The architecture of this house is secondary to the site, the natural environment, the tropical landscaping and the background,” continues Karp. Stepping out and strolling through the outside property, guests are met with a reflection pond complete with a sculpture by Havana-based artist Josevia to serve as the abode’s crown jewel among its myriad curated art pieces.

Keeping it robust, the masterpiece’s backyard features a lap pool and a built-in chef’s summer kitchen with overlooking views of the Miami Beach skyline. With the addition of a separate guesthouse with private entry and a sunset deck, the creative forces behind the project put a premium on paradise for homeowners and visitors alike. Closing at a whopping $17 million, Casa Palma sits pretty in the private community of Bay Point as the neighborhood’s most whimsical residential treasure.
