THE PARTY After many months of anticipation, the SLS South Beach finally lifted its curtain and welcomed a select group of VIPs to the Ringing of the Bell, a soft opening to introduce Miamians to the hotel and its many diverse offerings. The CROWD sbe Chairman Sam Nazarian, sbe President Arash Azarbarzin, Culinary Director José Andrés, GM Albert Mertz and Miami Beach Vice Mayor Jerry Libbin welcomed the likes of Emilio Estefan, Alonzo Mourning and Michelle Bernstein to the property. THE SCENE Wows and ooohs of delight were heard as guests walked into the lobby and came face to face with Philippe Starck’s brand of whimsy at work. The surprises kept coming in the form of hors d’oeuvres from The Bazaar’s kitchen, including chicken croquettes served in a sneaker-shaped dish. Creative cocktails showcasing the hotel’s innovative mixology program kept the conversation flowing. Save the date (and hope for an invite): A much grander, bolder, louder opening celebration will take place in November. Photography by World Red Eye
