Ten years short of its centennial, Gucci looked better than ever at its 90th anniversary party at the house’s Bal Harbour Shops boutique. In collaboration with The Wolfsonian-Florida International University Museum, the cocktail party was both a “Happy Birthday” for the brand as well as a chance to show off the BHS store, which reopened with a redesign not too long ago. Playing hosts were Barbara Becker, Carlos Betancourt, Susanne Birbragher, and Criselda and Jonathan Breene, all decked out in threads from Gucci’s spring 2011 collection. Champagne was served as guests—among them Belkys Nerey, Lisa Petrillo, Iran Issa Khan, Karla Dascal, Sam Robin, Rodner Figueroa, Suzy Wahab and Mitchell Wolfson, Jr.—perused the store’s collection of spring offerings for men and women as well as the brand’s children’s collection. One of the highlights of the evening was the announcement that Gucci had made a special contribution to The Wolfsonian-FIU to support the museum’s installation of the Italian Double Parlor, an art nouveau piece by Agostino Lauro that dates back to 1900.
