The Party
As any well-heeled Basel baby knows, the private dinner has become an ubiquitous part of the Art Week experience, and this past December, the most popular of all was for Swarovski Crystal Palace’s celebration of its “Mangue Groove” installation by Brazilian artist Guilherme Torres at Design Miami/.
The Crowd
Hostess Nadja Swarovski and Torres were all smiles as they greeted some of New York society’s biggest names, who were in town for the occasion. Among them were Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos, Tommy and Dee Hilfiger, Eddie Borgo and Julie Macklowe.
The Highlights
As guests entered the beach tent set up for the occasion on the sands behind Soho Beach House, they couldn’t help but be fascinated by the spectacular table displays of white flowers and sprinklings of Swarovski beads. As DJ Alex Merrell did his thing on the spin table, folks cheered Torres and lauded his installation depicting the Brazilian rain forest at the Design Miami/ tent just a few blocks away. As the evening came to a close, many of the attendees took their shoes off for a toe dip in the surf. –Photos by Anthony A. Hynes
