To the delight of Miami’s foodie community, one of the city’s most popular food hall concepts, Jaffa Miami, has expanded to its own brick-and-mortar location in Hallandale Beach. Owner and chef Yaniv Cohen—aka The Spice Detective, author of My Spiced Kitchen and winner of Netflix’s season finale Best Leftovers Ever—highlights his native Israeli roots and in-depth spice knowledge with a menu that is both colorful and hearty.

Dishes include turmeric roasted cauliflower, deconstructed baba ghanouj, a hummus bar and other staples of meze. The restaurant name nods to the oldest port city in Israel with picturesque alleys, art galleries and ancient buildings, and this new bright and airy space evokes the heart and soul of the vibrant city. Take in walls lined with Tel Aviv travel posters from the 1960s accompanied by tambourines, maracas and antique gold-finished lanterns. Its 20-seat outdoor lounge is the perfect complement for alfresco dining.

The menu pulls from Jaffa’s crowd-pleasing lineup of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes with its focus on dairy-free and kosher-style food served family style in tiered platters with loaves of fluffy, chewy pita bread. Exclusive dishes at the Hallandale location include Jerusalem bagels with za’atar and olive oil, short rib tagine served with cauliflower and potato mousse, beef kofta kebab and a selection of chicken and fish tagine. For beverage offerings, delight in a globally inspired kosher wine list, beer, Turkish coffee and mint tea. Look out for the Saturday and Sunday Israeli brunch debut, which will include mimosa and sangria pitchers and late-night parties that bring in Israeli DJs and belly dancers. Yalla! 701 N.
