Co-chair of Goldman Properties (goldmanproperties.com) and founder of Goldman Global Arts (goldmanglobalarts.com) Jessica Goldman Srebnick is a woman on a mission to make the world a more beautiful and colorful place. Through carrying on her father, Tony Goldman’s legacy to ignite the Wynwood neighborhood with a pulsing heartbeat full of vibrancy and creativity, Goldman has created a melting pot of ingenuity and culture with the beautifully developed neighborhood. Now, she’s using the globally recognized name to give back to our most deserving areas of the Miami community with the Wynwood Walls Foundation. We chat with Goldman on the inception of the foundation and why it will help enhance our beautiful city through the arts, mentorship and beyond.
Tell us about the launch of the Wynwood Walls Foundation. What prompted this?
In 13 short years, the Wynwood Walls has pumped energy into a neighborhood, helped elevate a global art form, launched careers and inspired others to infuse creativity into their projects. The Wynwood Walls is now a globally recognized brand, so in 2022 we decided to use our platform and launch a private charitable foundation—the Wynwood Walls Foundation—to champion worthwhile causes, primarily related to the arts.
What are some of the initiatives you’ll be rolling out that you’re most looking forward to?
We are thrilled to announce our first partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami. BBBS’s mission is to provide one-on-one mentoring relationships in order to ignite the power and promise of our youth. Partnering allows us to assist in providing an emotional, physical and healthy form of expression to unsung artists who might not yet know their talents within. The Wynwood Walls Foundation will seed an arts department at the BBBS headquarters, fund an artist-in-residency program by connecting established artists with our Littles community and organize Big/Little field trips at the Wynwood Walls.
What is the goal of this foundation?
The goal of the Wynwood Walls Foundation is to support local organizations that will use the funds to improve the quality of life of others, primarily through creativity and the arts, but also to address other pressing needs of the community.
How do you hope this will contribute to the overall landscape of Miami?
We are very fortunate to live in a vibrant city whose popularity is growing every day. While we should certainly celebrate what we have become, we should be equally mindful of the challenges faced by many in our community, including those experiencing homelessness, food insecurity and lack of mentorship. Just as the Wynwood Walls has inspired artists and visitors to be agents of change, we are hopeful that the Wynwood Walls Foundation will inspire others in the community to help solve some of the challenges that Miami is facing.
