As Miami Art Week takes the city by storm, Grammy-award winner and philanthropist Jewel is set to debut her “Heart of the Ocean” sculpture, inviting audiences into a captivating fusion of art and science.
This striking seven-foot sculpture, crafted from resin and LED cables, is a chrysalis. Seamlessly blending visual art, sound and science, the sculpture translates real-time oceanic data—recorded in collaboration with top scientists from NASA, NOAA, Stanford University and UC Berkeley—into an evolving visual and auditory display.
“Heart of the Ocean” becomes a living metaphor for the human experience by capturing ocean temperature shifts, migratory patterns, and wave activity. Complete with a 12-minute soundscape that gives the ocean a voice, Jewel’s innovative piece reflects not only the ocean’s regenerative power but also our intrinsic connection to nature, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the experience and sparking a renewed appreciation for the sea and a deeper sense of responsibility toward its preservation.
