La Vie Louis

The Party
The folks at Louis Vuitton must have wondered how they were ever going to stand out from the crowd with their 2014 Art Basel dinner and party. Their solution? The Jewel Box at the YoungArts Campus, where they transformed what was once Bacardi’s old accounting offices into a most enchanting setting for a VIP supper and cocktail party to celebrate the brand’s Design Miami/ satellite exhibition, Playing With Shapes.

The Crowd
Hollywood, New York society and global A-listers were well represented in the guest list with actresses Kate Hudson and Michelle Williams, beauty entrepreneur Miranda Kerr, Paris gallerist Emmanuel Perrotin, and author Derek Blasberg in attendance.

The Highlights
After cocktails and small talk about the exhibition, attendees found their seats for a three-course meal that included jumbo-shrimp cocktail, chateaubriand with bernaise and chocolate fondue for dessert. Throughout the evening, plenty of eyes were on Williams and Hudson, both of whom wore Louis Vuitton for the evening—and wore it well. Many couldn’t help but wonder what Hudson kept whispering to Blasberg during the meal, yet no one dared ask. Post-dinner, guests moved to a different floor of the Jewel Box (so-named due to the colorful stained-glass that marks the building’s facade) for yet more social camaraderie and to compare notes about their Basel plans. –Photography by Seth Browarnik/World Red Eye
