Spain’s enchanting Côte Basque region is lauded for its cuisine, highlighting dishes that utilize grilling and hot coals that make each dish a simple yet complex burst of flavor. While Miami touts endless amounts of excellent eateries, this specific cuisine has only been mastered by one noteworthy destination: Leku. Beloved for its culturally rich setting, located inside the esteemed Rubell Museum with a whimsical indoor-outdoor setting that combines the art of cuisine with its notable surroundings, Leku has captured the hearts and palates of our city’s finest diners.

Recently, the eatery welcomed a significant new addition to its already stellar team: the first Basque-designed outdoor Josper grill in South Florida. Coveted for its ability to grill meat, seafood and vegetables to pure perfection with its strong embers from the charcoal fire, the new appliance has prompted the team to launch a new “Grill” section to the menu.

Executive chef Mikel Goikolea introduces diners to this enhanced level of cuisine with bold dishes like the double lamb chops or chateaubriand for two; whole snapper or grouper; and main lobster dressed with txakoli, garlic and olive oil—all complemented by farm-to-table vegetable side dishes. Enhancing the overall experience, Leku’s beverage program has crafted new libations and sophisticated wine pairings to complement the dishes presented, rounding out the experience in true Basque style.

For dessert, be sure to savor the fan-favorite goxua, the traditional Basque cake with meringue and caramelized custard, or the famed truffle Basque cheesecake.
