New York writer Christopher Bollen dishes fact and fiction. First it was Kate Betts and her volume on the first lady’s personal style. Then came Christopher Bollen and his debut novel about troubled urbanites trying to find their way in post-9/11 Manhattan. Seems like Miami is slowly carving a niche for celebrations of the literary variety. The Interview magazine party for Lightning People was exactly what you’d expect from a book release shindig: cocktails circulated, the author was lauded and chatted up, and guests who had already read the novel debated which actors would play the different characters should the book ever get the screen treatment. There to congratulate Bollen on his 368 pages were fashion photographer Massimo Soli, landscape designer Fernando Wong, handbag designer Laura Buccellati and artist Carlos Betancourt. The evening solidified Soho Beach House’s reputation as the venue for events of this type. “You can tell summer is over,” said one guest as she made her way to the bar. “People actually want to read again.” Photography by Nathan Valentine
