Locust Roundtables is an ongoing series of open discussion on topics in contemporary art proposed and moderated by members of the art community in Miami and beyond.
Since Marcel Duchamp's 3 Standard Stoppages, 1913-1914, chance and indeterminacy have played key roles in the development of the avant-garde of the early 20th century, as well as the postwar neo-avant-garde. This roundtable will provide a brief historical framework of the use of chance in art followed with a discussion of its relevance in contemporary practice.
