Celebrated most famously in China, the Lunar New Year marks the county’s most important holiday. Marking the beginning of spring and new beginnings, the Lunar New Year is a fifteen-day celebration with numerous traditions and symbolic dishes that bring good luck and abundance. With Miami being a city full of diversity, here are restaurants honoring this holiday and celebrating the Year of the Rabbit.
Tanka
Debuting just in time for Lunar New Year, Tankai presents a carefully curated menu reflecting Chinese society’s interactive dining journey, encouraging sharing, family bonds and friendship. Led by renowned chef Taka and talented Davide D’Agostino, the new restaurant offers diners a gastronomic experience complete with a 30-person lounge and 6,200 square feet of restaurant space.
Serving Izakaya-inspired cocktails and Cantonese, Shanghai and Szechuan-style Chinese Dishes, Taka brings his own variations to signature dishes such as the Peking Duck served with steamed bao buns or the wagyu dim sum and the Ora king salmon served with Asian mushrooms and aged truffle soy. La Mar by Gastón Acurio is celebrating the Lunar New Year with a special “Chifa Brunch” on Jan. 21, from 12:30-3PM, offering a variety of hot and cold items served with signature cebiches, sushi, tiraditos and more. Hutong Miami
Celebrate the Lunar New Year right at the iconic Hutong Miami. This year, guests can venture on a flavorful journey and indulge in carefully crafted dishes like the Dim Sum platter and the crispy Chilean sea bass, or perhaps the Lunar bao and a special Lunar dessert. In addition to Hutong’s diverse menu, guests can sip on specially crafted cocktails like the He Ping, made with house wines infused with cherry, Bombay sapphire, clarified basal cordial and more. On Jan. 22, Phuc Yea will host a festive celebration featuring various entertainment, drinks and other activities.
