Minimalism to the Max
Things look different at Maison Margiela these days. To better reflect the visual language that’s been established by Creative Director John Galliano since he took over the house in 2014, the brand’s Design District boutique now features a new look and layout rooted in the notion of “appropriating the inappropriate.” That means the defining structures of the architecture—walls and columns—appear as detached objects, while artisanal furnishings “reflect and alter ideas of familiarity.” It all makes for a purposely barren backdrop to the brand’s men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, accessories, shoes, small leather goods, jewelry, fragrance and eyewear. To celebrate the new look, a limited edition of the label’s Tabi Bianchetto and Replica Bianchetto shoes will be available here exclusively. 142 NE 41st St., Miami, 786.718.1931, maisonmargiela.com
