At the new Maria Tash boutique at Bal Harbour Shops, customers are introduced to the wonderful and vast world of piercing—and we’re not just talking ears. Boasting three designated piercing areas, the new shop makes the process fast, easy and completely hygienic. A selection of the brand’s forward-thinking jewelry completes the experience. We spoke to Tash about what customers can expect.

For those who don’t know, what is the Maria Tash piercing experience?
It starts with a consultation with a stylist who’s trained to consider skin tone, anatomy, personal style aesthetics and any prominent visual feature in order to carefully advise on jewelry selection.
Skin tone and anatomy, really?
Yes, skin tone informs metal color and anatomy informs ring diameters.
What do you say to those who are apprehensive about the whole piercing deal?
When a client desires a piercing, we can suggest some of our patented piercing locations, and our piercers are trained in my forward-facing piercing angle aesthetic. All jewelry is nickel-free, to avoid allergic reactions, and all piercings are done using stringent sterilization protocols.
Are men a big part of your clientele?
Yes. Ear lobe jewelry and piercing is the most common request from men. It needs to be sleek, lightweight, low-profile, good for continuous wear and an adornment that can enhance and express inner style. We hear there’s an exclusive capsule collection at this location.
What can you tell us about it?
It features hard-to-find pink diamonds in various hues, and I also included some finger rings and necklaces with these stones, which I personally selected. I love pink diamonds and thought that the stone color was a great match for vibrant and colorful Miami.
What’s ahead for the brand this season?
