“My specialty is natural transformation,” explains the double-board-certified Dr. Daniel Careaga, who opened Careaga Plastic Surgery in Coral Gables in 2012. While his patients most often request breast enhancements, tummy tucks and liposuction—which he has performed more than 8,000 times combined—Careaga’s specialty is offering patients technologically advanced treatments other facilities do not. His latest obsession, Emsculpt, uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy to target abs and buttocks (and soon, he predicts, arms and legs): “On average, after four sessions you get a 16 percent increase in muscle mass and a 19 percent decrease in fat volume.” Four 30-minute treatments over two weeks yield optimal results. And while other local plastic surgeons may have the SculpSure laser and use it to burn fat around abdomens, flanks, backs, inner thighs and outer thighs, Careaga is one of few also using this procedure to treat double chins. In his office, opportunities for improvement are endless. After all, as he acknowledges, “in Miami, it’s beach season year-round.”
