As a love letter to daughters, chef Jeremy Ford opens Beauty and The Butcher.
Michelin star and Top Chef winner Jeremy Ford, in partnership with Miami-based Grove Bay Hospitality, is bringing a new dining concept, Beauty and The Butcher, to Coral Gables.
Taking over the Public Square restaurant space with a menu consisting of rotating seasonal small plates and a variety of meats, the chef-driven restaurant aims to bring an elevated experience while remaining inviting and laid back. Featuring booths, a U-shaped bar and a private dining room, guests will have the choice to dress up or down without feeling out of place at the 170-seat locale.

Beauty and The Butcher pays tribute to Ford’s cherished role as a father (he refers to his eldest daughter, Madelynn, as the “beauty” and himself, the “butcher”) and the impact fatherhood has had on his life. The restaurant will showcase the chef’s lauded Michelin-starred cooking bringing upscale seasonal dining from Miami Beach to South Miami.

This will be the second collaboration between Grove Bay Hospitality Group and Ford, following the recently awarded, one-Michelin-starred Stubborn Seed, which opened in 2017 in South Beach. According to a post on Ford’s Instagram, Juan Vieira of Stubborn Seed will be the new restaurant’s chef de cuisine and we can expect Miami influences on dishes (we heard something about a certain yuca dish) and other culinary surprises. Sofia brings Italian cuisine and late-night revelry to the Miami Design District.
There’s a new kid on the fashion block: Toronto-born Italian gem Sofia Design District is the latest Miami hot spot, marrying Italian cuisine with nightly bespoke entertainment.
Upon entry, fall in love with the flamingo-pink and amethyst palette and thoughtfully curated accents including pink lacquered pieces, teak furnishings and rose umbrellas in the charming outdoor terrace, and crimson fabrics, mirrored columns and contemporary art that evoke the best of Italian glam. Italian actress Sophia Loren served as the focal inspiration for the setting, embracing the nostalgic splendor of inimitable glamour.
From Lombardy to Sicily, Sofia takes its inspiration from many mixed regions throughout Italy while adding a signature modern-style approach to every dish. Guests will have a broad selection of antipasti with everything from carpaccio to citrus salads, ricotta-stuffed zucchini and a robust collection of crudo.
Fresh, handmade pasta dishes headline the menu’s main section; pesce mains feature branzino, aragosta (butter-poached lobster) and gamberetti (wild king prawn), while carne mains highlight bistecca alla Fiorentina, wagyu filets, breaded veal and ribeye, among others.
Sofia’s expertly crafted cocktails are enhanced by regionally sourced herbs and flavor-focused ingredients. If wine is preferred, Sofia’s vast vino selection spans Italy’s 20 regions featuring options rich in varietals, soil types and microclimates, from the noble wines of Piedmont to Tuscany powerhouses or the volcanic wines of Mount Etna.

Joining lauded sister restaurants Byblos Miami, meet Dalia and Amal, Sofia Design District will be open seven days a week for dinner service starting at 5PM, with brunch and lunch to launch soon. 140 NE 39th St., Ste. 133, Miami, inkentertainment.com
