Celebrating the deep connections between personal identities and natural environments, Spirit in the Land brings together over 63 works by 30 artists, taking center stage at the Pérez Art Museum Miami. Through various mediums spanning paintings, drawings, textiles, sculptures, videos and photographs, these dynamic works reflect humanity’s symbiotic relationship with nature. Examining ecological issues and reflecting the human connection with nature from varied cultural viewpoints, Spirit in the Land seeks to redefine humanity’s role within the environment. Working to reinforce the collective effort for nature restoration and humans’ relationship with nature, the upcoming showcase spotlights the possibility of healing damaged bonds between humanity and nature. Notable works include Mosquito Hall, Hew Locke’s acrylic and photographic print, paying homage to rising sea levels, and Maia Cruz Palileo’s The Way Back, reimagined 20th-century photographs from her ancestral homeland.1103 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, pamm.org
