As if gearing up attendees for its big 10th anniversary next year, the Miami Beach Polo World Cup certainly didn’t hold back on programming for its ninth edition. Taking over the sands behind The Setai once again, the tournament had its strongest showing in years. New this time around was a shopping village with kiosks, pop-up shops and even a temporary boutique from La Martina, the polo-themed garment brand that’s the main sponsor of the event. Inside the spectator tent, men in seersucker shorts and driving shoes, and women in billowy georgette dresses gave the event a Palm Beach-lite vibe—the loud EDM beats between matches, however, reminded guests they were in South Beach. After four days of goals and chukkers, victory went to the women’s Cheeki and the men’s The Raleigh/Comcast teams. Taking all the action in throughout the weekend was tournament organizer Bruce Orosz, TV chef Ingrid Hoffmann, realtor Katrina Campins, girl-about-town Ashley Turchin and actor Christian Carabias. Of course, there was much activity off the sand as well with nightly Grey Goose-sponsored afterparties at venues up and down Collins Avenue. After all, this was polo à la 33139.
