“You mean we get swag?” uttered delighted guests upon entering the new Lacoste boutique on Lincoln Road, being handed a bag and told they could have their picks of polos, sunglasses, watches and sandals from the store’s packed shelves. “It’s genius,” said Eveliny Bastos-Klein. “Can I trade you my black bag for the red?” Ah, yes, nothing revs up a party crowd like designer goodies. Freebies aside, the debut party for the shop had other highlights as well… and a rather obvious DIY theme. When guests made their way to the bar, they discovered it was up to them to mix their own Bombay Sapphire cocktails—albeit with professional supervision from the bartenders, lest an errant shaker fly out of anyone’s hands. With bags full, guests like Alan Randolph, Iran Issa-Khan, Ginger Harris, and Susie and Walid Wahab then joined Lacoste CEO Steve Birkhold for an early after-party at one of the W hotel’s penthouses for yet more cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. After all, VIP shopping is a surefire way to work up an appetite. Photography by World Red Eye
