Four-time Tony Award nominee brings his musical talent home, where he’s already become an Adrienne Arsht Center favorite following show-stopping performances in Babalú and at the 5th Anniversary Season Gala. Now, in an encore performance of his acclaimed Lincoln Center concert, Esparza will delve into his Cuban musical roots and share his love of Broadway musicals! Raul brings a “burning intensity to a theme dear to his heart,” raves New York Times writer Stephen Holden, “bring on the challenge, and he will leap to the breach.”
He’ll be singing a few Gloria Estefan songs, Celia Cruz classics, original Cuban songs from the 1950s, Broadway tunes – all numbers will be accompanied by Miami musicians/orchestra. He’s also bringing Donald Holder, the famed lighting designer from Spider-Man in Broadway, to do his show. Lastly, Raúl will be coming straight from his headlining act at the prestigious Lincoln Center gala on Jan. 31. Raúl’s most recent Arsht Center performance took place in 2010 with the critically-acclaimed show “Babalu.” He performed alongside legends Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr.
