Retail and Seconds

| December 23, 2013 | Parties

You can always count on Saks Fifth Avenue at Bal Harbour Shops to put on a great party, and this year’s 15th anniversary of the mega-retailer’s Key to the Cure Event in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month was no exception. More than 750 guests battled rain and traffic to make it to BHS for what’s become one of the fall season’s hallmark parties: a tasting featuring the star dishes of South Florida’s finest eateries.
Society’s ubiquitous players dared not miss this gathering—lest they incur the wrath of Saks GM Deborah Slack—and there this year once again were Dana Shear, Arlene Chaplin, Jillian Jacobson, Sarah Arison and Alan Randolph.
From amid Saks’ designer collections, chef stations featured specialties from restaurants such as Bianca, J&G Grill, The Cypress Room, Makoto, Tongue & Cheek, La Gouloue and dozens of others. Cocktails were generously provided by Southern Wine & Spirits. When all was said and done, the event, which also included four days of shopping, had raised $500,000 for the Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center. “We were thrilled with the success,” said Slack. “Next year, it will be even bigger.” –Photography by Brett Hufziger/
