With picturesque views, the Rusty Pelican offers both sophistication and a Miami nightlife experience. Known for its creative and handcrafted cocktails and flavorful dishes, this restaurant has been a prime part of Miami’s cultural landscape since 1972. Now, in honor of the golden anniversary, the city of Miami has proclaimed Aug. 26 as Rusty Pelican Day.
Owned and operated by the same family since opening its doors, John Tallichet, the CEO of Specialty Restaurants, shared that this milestone anniversary means the Rusty Pelican will continue to support the local community through its long-standing partnership with Overtown Youth Center.
“We are excited to have the legacy of the Rusty Pelican continue to impact the local community for years to come,” says Tallichet. “This achievement not only signifies our restaurant but also our entire Rusty Pelican family’s hard work and dedication.”
As part of the celebration, the specialty menu will have specialty entrees such as teriyaki glazed sirloin and chicken Kona ka priced at $19.72, the year the restaurant opened, and cocktails available for $5. The menu will be available for a limited time from Aug. 15 through Aug. 19.

“We are excited to bring back some of our iconic dishes found on our original menu that pay homage to our history, showing how far we have come and where our menu is going in the future,” says Jim Pastor, the Eastern regional chef.
Additionally, the Rusty Pelican plans to donate 100% of its proceeds from the throwback menu to the Overtown Youth Center.
