Sephora is partnering with The Runway of Dreams Foundation to present its first multi-brand fashion and beauty campaign featuring people with disabilities, Campaign for Inclusion.
Launching June 1, the goal of the campaign is to empower people with disabilities to have confidence and self-expression through fashion and beauty inclusion; the campaign will feature adaptive and universally designed products that make apparel more accessible to everyone.
Members of the campaign will include influential people with disabilities in sports, beauty, music, and fashion, each using their platforms to motivate others and demonstrate how they have overcome their disabilities.
The Runway of Dreams will feature Shaquem Griffin, a former American football linebacker who had his left hand amputated as a child; Daniel Steele, a Special Olympics athlete with autism and a golf silver medalist from the 2022 USA Games; TikToker Emily Rowley; Venezuelan model and influencer Yarelbys Túa; Alvaro Alcocer a Colombian singer-songwriter for Las Buenas Influencias, and Steffi Gonzales a Colombian beauty and lifestyle content creator in her second-year partnership with Sephora as a #SephoraSquad Mentor. The models hope to bring disability inclusion to the beauty sphere and inspire others with disabilities to be their authentic selves.
Adaptive design allows people with disabilities to comfortably wear fashion designs they otherwise would not be able to. Mindy Scheier, founder of Runway of Dreams, advocates for meaningful industry change that takes disabilities into account when manufacturing apparel.
“These products are thoughtfully designed, from closures, material, and ease of use for independent dressing and for caregivers,” Scheier shares.
Working to raise awareness, educate consumers, and develop the next generation of innovators and leaders, Runway of Dreams has debuted adaptive designs for Tommy Hilfiger, Steve Madden, Zappos, and more.
