THE PARTY There are launches and then there are launches! Miami got its social spirit on for the debut of the 2013 Charity & Social Datebook, the magazine’s annual guide to the city’s most important galas and philanthropic events. THE CROWD Both seasoned and newbie philanthropists made their way to the JW Marriott Marquis downtown for an evening that celebrated giving. Among those pressing flesh and smiling for the cameras were Norman Wedderburn, Rebecca Gentry, Matthew Dugow, Linda Levy Goldberg and Liza Gallardo Walton. THE SCENE Programming from the various organizations involved with the publication took over various corners of the JW’s 19th floor basketball court, which was transformed for the occasion. Interspersed between speeches by Datebook’s publishers and editor were performances by Manolo Alayeto and the evening’s headliners, Manolito Kings of the Gypsies, a guitarist/vocalist duo whose string sounds brought guests to their feet and kept them dancing late into the night.
