THE PARTY After successful runs in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco, LuckyRice made its much-anticipated debut at Soho Beach House just as the Basel crowds were beginning to arrive in the city. For this edition of the culinary event, the organizers decided to highlight traditional Asian dishes as well as Miami’s Latin culinary cultures. THE CROWD Hosted by Susur Lee (of Top Chef Masters) and local toque Douglas Rodriguez, the festival featured plenty of chef cachet. We’re talking Todd English, Aaron Sanchez and Norman Van Aken. THE SCENE Programming took over all the outdoor spaces of Soho Beach House. Guests started with Bombay Sapphire cocktails by the pool before moving to the gazebo bar for bites from Katsuya, SushiSamba, Makoto and Khong River House. A tent was set up on the beach for yet more tasting stations and libations, and guests couldn’t help being drawn to the party’s prime spot: a fire pit just steps from the crashing waves.
