The Party
Revered for its sculptural footwear, Christian Louboutin couldn’t let an Art Basel pass without its own celebration. The brand’s Design District boutique commemorated the fair with an exhibition of recent works by Carmelo Tedeschi, who presented a series of five freestanding sculptures made of vegetable-tanned leather that were carved and hand-stitched.

The Crowd
“You know it’s a good party when the room is hot,” said Ray de Leon, pointing out the balmy temperature inside the store. The heat didn’t stop the well-dressed guests from maneuvering their way through the shoe vitrines to catch a glimpse of the art on display—and enjoy a glass or two of bubbly. Among those perusing and mingling were ad executive Manny Machado, Vanity Fair’s George Wayne, stylist Cameron Silver and interior designer Aimee Song.

The Highlights
As DJ Chelsea Leyland kept the tunes spinning, guests navigated the packed boutique to get a glimpse at Tedeschi’s artwork. Just as worthy of double glances were the easy-on-the-eyes waiters from Shiraz Events, who catered the event. As expected, footwear was a popular topic of conversation and glimpses downward at guests’ feet were rather common. –Photos by Wilson Parish
