The Party
The Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science’s annual Galaxy Gala and Big Bang Party once again lived up to guests’ expectations with an evening of interstellar proportions—as black-tie social gatherings go anyway.
The Crowd
Despite the fact that two other high-profile events were taking place that very same evening, no serious philanthropist dared to miss this particular affair. This year’s gala was co-chaired by Nancy Batchelor and Nicole Lozano with philanthropic chairs Trish and Dan Bell and host chairs Alicia Cervera Lamadrid and Alberto Lamadrid.
The Highlights
As usual, the party dazzled guests right upon arrival with a cocktail hour that gave attendees the opportunity to take photographs with exotic birds (a striking bald eagle was a particular favorite, while a baby owl made even grown men gush). Inside the banquet hall, WPLG Channel 10 anchor Laurie Jennings proved to be a most gregarious MC as she introduced the numerous award presentations that have become synonymous with the gala. As dinner came to a close, an animated afterparty crowd made its way to the banquet hall at the JW Marriott Marquis; the DJ turned up the music; and, many hours later, another Saturday night in Miami came to an end. –Photography by Alex Gort
