Sweet Surrender

| May 2, 2013 | Parties National

Its arrival on Lincoln Road was delayed for months, but no one seemed to want to be late for the grand opening party of Dylan’s Candy Bar in Miami Beach. Guests turned out en masse to check out the new sweets emporium (and its massive, Dale Chihuly-inspired lollipop-tree cluster and swirling candy cane pillars) and they were not disappointed. Holding court at the crowded soirĂ©e, Willy Wonka-style, was owner Dylan Lauren herself, who greeted invitees and posed for pictures like the pro she is. Partygoers—among them Susanne Birbragher, Ricardo Dunin, Lea Black, Lauren Beall, Stephanie Sayfie-Aagaard, William Betts and the now-ubiquitous Jonathan Cheban—worked their way through the crowded store and mingled. “Candy has a way of bringing people together, don’t you think?” said one guest. Indeed, passed treats like chocolate-caramel popcorn and vanilla-peanut butter ice cream went fast, but so did the cocktails made with Caliche Rum that were being mixed at the store’s full-service bar. “Miami was the store I was most excited about,” Lauren told us back in November. “The art, colors, fashion and energy of the city... it’s a fun place to be.” Sweet to her word, indeed.
