The Art of Style

| April 20, 2012 | Parties National

Oh, how Miamians love an occasion. The fact that Fendi chose Miami to debut its spring/summer 2012 collection in the states had the city buzzing for weeks. And the actual event, a save-the-date must in the most VIP of social calendars, didn’t disappoint. The evening began at dusk with a cocktail party at the de la Cruz Collection museum, which was transformed for the occasion with all sorts of Fendi iconography, starting with a yellow paint job (Fendi yellow, mind you) on the building’s fa├žade. As Champagne and hors d’oeuvres circulated, guests made the rounds and took in the museum’s way-eclectic art collection. With hellos and chitchat out of the way, the crowds then moved to the museum’s third floor, where the strutting began after Fendi President Stacy Van Praagh and de la Cruz Collection founder Rosa de la Cruz welcomed the audience. As models walked the runway, most of the attendees could be seen pointing with excitement at the footwear. Long after the show ended and dinner was served in the museum’s garden, shoes were still the topic of conversation. “Did you see the wedges? Spectacular!” said Susanne Birbragher. “I want them all.” She wasn’t the only one. Photography by World Red Eye
