When one door closes, another one opens—and for the fatherson founders of The Butcher Shop eatery Igor and Fred Niznik, this notion of fate is no exception. Dishing out German-approved cuts of USDA Prime Black Angus beef and hormone-free chicken since 2013, the house of grub has officially closed its doors for renovations—but not without a proper placeholder.
Led by the same family force, breakfast hot spot Chicken & The Egg will continue to deliver The Butcher Shop’s signature fare through a recently launched evening pop-up. Appearing four days a week in the heart of downtown, the temporary venture will spotlight a lineup of new menu items from barbecue brisket melts and decadent beef hot dogs to three fresh styles of smash burgers.
While satiating in a myriad loaded delights, diners are invited to wash down a mouthful in block-party fashion with canned beers, wine and a selection of wine-based cocktails. As locals impatiently wait for the return of the revamped Butcher Shop, the Niznik family duo brings together its two most mouthwatering endeavors to serve as a tantalizing teaser of what’s to come.
