The Life Aquatic

| April 7, 2016 | Parties

Buzz about the opening of the River Yacht Club hit an all-time high as soon as invites for its debut went out, and the grand reveal of the venue—an evening of fun performances, happy dancing and serious mingling—lived up to the hype.

RYC’s owners welcomed more than 2,000 guests to the massive space, which includes a restaurant, an outdoor bar, a lounge, a 400-foot marina and a VanDutch yacht club. Among the notables in attendance were nightlife impresario Dave Grutman; architect Kobi Karp; interior designer Sam Robin; and developers Gil Dezer, Edgardo Defortuna and Keith Menin. Why, even Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine crossed the causeway for the occasion.

Sense-overdrive is the best way to describe the party, which featured multiple live acts—including a stirring performance by opera singer Elizabeth Zito—a bevy of hors d’oeuvres that gave attendees a taste of the establishment’s culinary profile, plus cocktails and rosé galore. By evening’s end, hundreds of Miamians had already committed to making RYC their good-life headquarters. -Photography by World Red Eye
