Vizcaya Museum and Garden is a cultural destination for sightseers worldwide and an oasis for locals who want to connect in a setting coined "Miami's home." Vizcaya was the jewel of budding Miami when industrialist James Deering built it between 1914 and 1922. The grand house was designed as a modern and subtropical interpretation of an eighteenth-century villa with adapted Mediterranean architectural elements dating back to Pompeii from the early 20th century. The design takes full advantage of its location on Biscayne Bay, and you must snap a photo on the stunning terrace that descends toward the sea. Schedule a tour through the halls and lush gardens to learn more about its history, or simply walk in and hang out with the natives. If you're an early riser, check out the free yoga classes offered every Sunday at 10 a.m.
