The stars shone bright once again at the Frost Museum of Science’s Galaxy Gala.

The Patricia and Philip Frost Museum of Science’s Galaxy Gala always gives guests something extra special to get them through the RSVP-light days of summer. This year’s Aqua Lumiè€re celebration did right by that tradition with an aquatic theme and exciting news about the museum’s new state-of-the-art home slated to open next summer.

Gala co-chairs Shelly and Marko Dimitrijevic; and Jennifer and Gabriel Montoya; philanthropic chairs Trish and Dan Bell; host chairs Alicia Cervera Lamadrid and Alberto Lamadrid; and presenting chairs Chanin and Adam Carlin; Barbara and Michael Weintraub; and Jacqueline Simkin welcomed more than 1,200 guests to the Hilton Miami Downtown for what’s expected to be the event’s last time in a hotel ballroom. Fingers crossed, next year’s gala will be at the actual new museum.

Surprises were plentiful throughout the evening, including the revelation of a new museum logo and the announcement of a $10 million donation by the Frosts. With recognitions and dinner out of the way, guests moved on to the Big Bang H2Glow afterparty, which had an unmistakable South Beach feel thanks to dark graffiti chalkboards and more glow sticks than an Ultra gathering. By evening’s end, the gala had raised $1 million for its efforts. -Photos by World Red Eye
